Icon Craft is an application for icon creation and edition. It works with any icons from Windows operating systems, and manages both old-style Windows XP icons, and the new Aero ones, introduced with Windows Vista.
The program supports a large number of image types including JPEG, ANI, ICO, BMP, GIF, PNG, TGA, and more. It works with a color depth up to 32-bit True Color. Icons can be exported and managed as libraries, making the program integration a lot easier.
Icon Craft offers two ways to create icons: by drawing them, or by importing icons or images from various sources and edit them.
To manually create icons, the application interface offers a large variety of basic design tools like shapes, gradient fill, flood fill, and brushes. Drawings can be further enhanced by using some of the available effects: smooth, negative grayscale, colorize, drop shadow, opacity, or blur.
There is also an excellent feature, similar to complex graphics editing programs, that allows layers usage. This increases considerably the amount of details that can be added to the icons.
To import icons, the application allows multiple sources, like web images, clipboard content, or digital images. It can also extract the icons from software executables or digital libraries, or download them from a special online library.
Multiple icons can be edited at the same time, applying a custom set of graphic changes for each of them.
Icon Craft can also create or edit Windows static and animated cursors. The same import options available for icons, can be used for this as well.
The trial version of the program works for 30 days and allows the user to save up to 7 icons.
